My personal motto is: “look for reasons to celebrate”. At our house, we commemorate the big things like birthdays and anniversaries as well as all of the little things like Taco Tuesday and the cat’s birthday. So, I was thrilled when I started to see people find unique ways to celebrate outdoors! An outdoor party is always in style.
Wedding at a Drive In Movie Theater for an Outdoor Party
Bri Houk and Lindsey Leaverton were originally scheduled to be married at the elegant Hotel Ella in Austin. The pandemic cancelled those plans for them, but that didn’t stop them from having an amazing wedding. They rescheduled at Doc’s Drive In Theatre in Buda, TX and had a beautiful ceremony while their guests social distanced in their cars. You can read more about their story here – it’s a true heart warmer!
Private Prom for High School Senior
Reventals Austin customer, Lorena Moore, should get a Best Mother Ever Award. She is planning a surprise private prom in her backyard for her son and his girlfriend. She is renting a small tent with lights, dance floor, table and chairs. I know it’s not the same as being with all of your friends on the big night, but I have to believe that the memories will be sweeter from this outdoor party!
Parade to Honor a Hero
One of my childhood best friends, Claire King, is married to a pulmonologist in Nashville, TN, Matt King. He is a critical care specialist at Sumner Regional Medical Center and has been caring for Covid-19 patients since the start of the pandemic. He had to quarantine from his family, and was recently diagnosed, but I’m thrilled to report he is doing well. You can read his story in the Tennessean. Friends honored his selflessness with a drive by parade, which gave me all the feels. The drive by parade is also a great idea to celebrate birthdays. We are participating in one this weekend, and my kids will enjoy it just as much as the birthday girl!
Door Decorating for Graduates
I reminisce on my high school years, and I think that the shelter in place rules must be hardest on teenagers. I can’t imagine being a senior, and being stuck at home unable to spend time with my friends before we all go our separate ways. My sweet neighbor has a daughter in high school, and the two of them decided to bring some cheer to the seniors by decorating their doors.
Birthday Party for a Little One
The younger kids don’t usually get together with friends as much as the teenagers, but the birthday celebrations are often bigger. Austin company, ATX Bubbles is still delivering the wow factor to make the day super special. I especially loved this one they delivered for a little girl’s birthday. Can you imagine waking up to this?!?
Regardless of the unique challenges we face in today’s ever changing environment, we can still celebrate with an outdoor party.
